Notes from Janice
March 1, 2019: I am proud to serve as the Legislative Representative for the ACNM Arizona Affiliate. There are several issues working at the state Capital right now. There is work on vaccination issues, Health Principles, and Professional Workforce enforcement. The biggest thing going on is the Clinical Nurse Specialist bill in which they are asking for prescriptive authority within their scope of practice. HB 2068. The bill is being voted on this week. Several legislators are approving, however, there are several more who do not yet understand the importance of passing this bill. It will enable CNSs to practice to the full extent of their education, training and licensure. Please contact your local legislators to ask them to support the bill and why you think it is important. Each vote counts! The Arizona Nurses Association (AzNA) is the power-house organization that employs a full-time lobbyist team to ensure the public and nurses are well-supportive at the state Capital. There will be a celebration for “100 Years” of the Arizona Nurses Association, Convention, Sept 19-20, Wild Horse Pass. I will be there, hopefully you will also! I recommend that each of you become members of AzNA. There is power in numbers. And we need to have our voices heard. Be watching on this website and on ACNM Connect for updates, and “Call for Action” notices from AzNA. (Janice Bovee, CNM)
